康熙元年（1662年）清政府下令停鑄上代“順治通寶”錢，而改鑄“康熙通寶”錢，并規(guī)定以后凡是嗣位改元，所鑄錢制皆如此例。縱觀康熙一朝，在全國共開設(shè)鑄錢局二十四處。由于受當(dāng)時冶鑄工本和錢幣私鑄等問題的影響，每一文康熙錢曾分別重一錢四分、一錢、七分，這樣一來便產(chǎn)生了我們今天見到的大、中、小三種不同重量的“康熙通寶”錢。
康熙通寶按照背面文字可以分成兩大類：一類是仿"順治四式"的滿文錢。錢背滿文"寶泉"、"寶源"左讀，是戶、工兩部所造。另外一類是仿"順治五式"滿漢文錢。康熙通寶有小平及當(dāng)十大錢。錢文真書體，直讀。除寶源、寶泉二局以滿文紀局外，各省均以滿漢字紀局名，穿左鑄滿文，穿右鑄漢文。各省鑄錢均為小平。折十大錢為寶源局所鑄，有說為開爐錢，有說為鎮(zhèn)庫錢，理應(yīng)屬花錢系列，應(yīng)非行用錢。

Kangxi Tongbao can be divided into two categories according to the characters on the back: one is Manchu money imitating the "Shunzhi Four Styles". Qian Bei's Manchu "Baoquan" and "Baoyuan" are left-reading, and are made by the two departments of households and workers. The other type is Manchu and Chinese money imitating the "Shunzhi Five Styles". Kangxi Tongbao has Xiaoping and Dang ten money. Qian Wenzhen's script, direct reading. Except for Baoyuan and Baoquan Second Bureaus, which use the Manchu Discipline Bureau, all provinces use the Manchu characters as the Disciplinary Bureau, with Manchu characters on the left and Chinese characters on the right. The minting money of each province is Xiaoping. The ten coins were cast by the Baoyuan Bureau. Some say it is money for opening the furnace, and some say it is money for the town treasury. It should belong to the series of spending money and should not be used for money.
康熙錢的背文除工部、戶部所設(shè)的寶泉、寶源兩局所鑄均為滿文外，其它外地各錢局鼓鑄的通寶錢，其背文左為滿文紀地，右為相應(yīng)的漢字紀地。后人為收藏和研究方便，將滿漢文紀地的局名編在一起，形成了一首押韻、順口的康熙錢“背文詩”。詩云：同福臨東江，宣原蘇薊昌。南河寧廣浙，臺桂陜云漳。這首詩將“康熙通寶”錢背滿漢文的二十局都囊括其中。所以有人將康熙的這套錢稱為“詩文二十品”。后來還出現(xiàn)了“鞏”字（甘肅鞏昌局），又有人說還有“密”、“川”、“貴”、“西”等錢局的康熙錢。但是至今我們僅見有“鞏”、“西”兩字，其它尚未見到實物，目前對此還有一定的爭議。康熙通寶還有俗稱的羅漢錢，相傳是年羹堯熔黃金羅漢所鑄，色澤呈金黃色，康熙的熙字較通俗寫法少一豎。其中有背大清及龍鳳紋飾的宮錢，為收藏家所鐘愛。另有福建寶福局于康熙60大壽時起鑄有背穿干支的賀壽錢，每年一品，直至1722年康熙帝晏駕，一共十年，共得十品，存世罕見。另有雕母，樣錢流世。明清時期，晉商和山西票號的崛起，著稱中外。

Kangxi Tongbao is also commonly known as Luohan money. According to legend, it was cast by Nian Gengyao melted gold Luohan, and the color is golden yellow. Among them, there are palace coins decorated with Qing Dynasty and dragon and phoenix patterns, which are loved by collectors. In addition, from the 60th birthday of Kangxi, the Fujian Baofu Bureau casted the congratulatory money with the back-piercing stems and branches, and it was one grade every year until the Emperor Kangxi in 1722. It took ten years and a total of ten grades, which is rare in the world. There is also a carved mother, and the money is passed down from generation to generation. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the rise of Shanxi merchants and Shanxi bankers was well-known both at home and abroad.
尤其清朝時期票號的發(fā)達，以至于山西民間流傳至今仍有大量清朝古錢。據(jù)傳還有清朝山西曾有許多鑄錢工匠在京城錢局工作，由于種種原因帶回到山西大批漂亮的錢幣。而那些漂亮的錢幣是當(dāng)時的樣幣或母錢等，現(xiàn)在以都是至為珍稀的品種。通過20多年的民間發(fā)掘，確實山西民間所發(fā)現(xiàn)清朝的珍稀幣種遠較其他省份數(shù)量龐大。
